Transit Access Pass (TAP)
What it is and How to Get One
What it is and How to Get One
No one wants to be the passenger that makes a bus late, counting and fiddling with change at the farebox.
TAP makes it easy peasy to pay your fare! Plus, students ride for free with GoPass on TAP.
A TAP card is a plastic, contactless smart card which you load fare money and passes on to. It's a cashless method to pay your fare.
If you're a high school student, you don't have to worry about paying at all! It's free!
Thanks to Metro's Fareless System Initiative (FSI) program, high school students in LA County ride most transit systems for free, including Metro, Montebello Bus Lines, and 17 other systems.
If you're a student... ask for a GoPass TAP card at the front office. He/she will assist you in registering your card. You may also request a new card if your's was lost or stolen.
If you're an adult...
A new adult TAP card costs $2 (with balance protection).
There are multiple ways to purchase one.
